How much does drone photography cost? What really drives the price

Vegetation seen from above
The short answerFor simple marketing photography, the Israeli price guide Midrag shows a range of ILS 1,000 to ILS 3,000. For engineering work such as construction tracking, mapping or thermal inspection, the price depends on the size of the site, the number of flights and the deliverable, so no single price list fits everyone.

Anyone looking up the price of drone photography quickly finds very different answers to the same question. The reason is simple: "drone photography" is one name for completely different jobs. A short video of an apartment for sale and a monthly survey of an infrastructure site are two different products, with different equipment, crews and responsibility.

How much does marketing drone photography cost?

According to Midrag's price guide (in Hebrew), prices range from ILS 1,000 to ILS 3,000. The guide also gives sample deals, including VAT:

Type of workSample price
Apartment for sale in Tel Aviv, including an edited videoILS 1,600
Property with stills, video and an edited clipILS 2,950
Edited business video of up to 90 seconds, with 2.5 to 3 hours of filmingILS 2,800

These are examples from a directory of service providers, with no published date. They help give a sense of scale, but they do not replace a quote.

Why is an engineering project priced differently?

In marketing work, the deliverable is a beautiful image. In engineering work, the deliverable is information that decisions are based on. That changes several things:

  • Repeatability. Good construction tracking compares the same camera positions over months. That is how we support the Netanya breakwaters, for example, with monthly progress photography and survey since 2022.
  • Processing. An orthophoto, an elevation model or a thermal report requires office work after the flight.
  • Coordination. An active site, national infrastructure or a power station requires safety coordination and permissions.
  • Equipment. A thermal camera or a drone built for work inside a structure is not the tool used for a real estate video.

8 things that set the price

  1. What you need at the end. A video file, an orthophoto, a 3D model or a report.
  2. The size and complexity of the site. According to Midrag, urban, enclosed or indoor sites cost more.
  3. Length of the shoot. Many jobs are priced per project rather than per hour, so one hour does not always cost half of two.
  4. Frequency. One flight, or regular tracking throughout the project.
  5. Level of editing and processing. Raw material, basic editing, or full production with script and sound.
  6. Time of day. Sunrise, sunset or night may cost more.
  7. Permits and coordination. Some areas require advance coordination, and that takes working time.
  8. Travel distance. A provider with a nationwide pilot network can reduce this component.

How do you ask for a quote you can compare?

The best way to save money is to send a clear brief, so every provider prices the same job. Include:

  • The site location and a map or drawing, if you have one.
  • What the deliverable is for: management, supervision, planning or marketing.
  • The deliverable format, and whether a certain accuracy is required.
  • How many flights you need, and how often.
  • Limits on site: working hours, safety and access.

And in the quote itself, check what is included: travel, editing, raw material, processing, and who is responsible for permits. Before signing, it is also worth going through the 8 questions for choosing a drone company.

When does the cheap price turn out expensive?

The big gap between quotes is often in licensing and insurance. If damage happens on your site during a flight, the first question will be who is insured. All our aircraft carry third-party insurance with cover of up to ILS 5,000,000, under an operating licence from the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel. Ask to see these documents from every provider.

Common questions about drone photography prices

Is there a price per flight hour?

Some providers work that way, but many jobs are priced per project, because most of the time goes into planning and processing rather than the flight itself.

Is monthly tracking cheaper?

A regular plan usually makes it possible to plan ahead and return to the same points, so it is worth asking for a package quote rather than a single flight.

How much does mapping or thermal inspection cost?

It depends on the area and the deliverable. Send us the site details and we will come back with a tailored quote.
